Silk World is a family run business established over 35+ years ago.
Since its humble beginnings, Silk World has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of couture and bridal fabrics for Australia and New Zealand.
We have also expanded internationally with an office in London.
Our showroom is located in the heart of Melbourne's rag trade district, Kew. We are open to wholesale and retail customers on weekdays from 9:00am to 4:30pm, with no appointment necessary.
At Silk World, we pride ourselves in offering many years of experience and service to the textile industry, so whether you are an emerging designer, an established fashion house, a couture dressmaker, a bride looking for that special fabric for your big day or just a fabric enthusiast we have something for you.

We specialise in silks and have a large varied selection of luxurious silks available; these include a delicate Satin Chiffon, a sumptuous Crepe De Chine, opulent Sandwash Satin right through to a deluxe Heavy Crepe Satin.
We have a silk perfect for any garment, if you are unsure on which silk will work best for you feel free to contact us and our knowledgeable staff are more than happy to guide you in the right direction.
With a heavy focus on the bridal industry, we also have a large selection of captivating laces and exquisite embroidered tulles available – perfect to create that exceptional bridal gown, mother of the bride outfit or something for that special occasion.
We have built strong relationships with our mills over our 35+ years within the industry and are constantly receiving new shipments into our warehouse from countries such as Japan, France, India, Italy and many more.
Here at Silk World we work closely with our wholesale clients to create bespoke designs. We have a curated indent collection in our Kew showroom that is specifically created for our trade customers. Our indent collection is updated regularly and we welcome our clients to come through and browse the collection where they can order in fabrics made just for them. We have agents all over Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. For trade customers wanting to view our range please contact us so we can connect you to your local agent. If you would like to setup a wholesale account, or have any questions please contact us. We operate with very low minimums of 5mts for Wholesale and 1mt for Retail.
