This hand embroidered trim comes to us from a well-established, renowned Indian couture design house – the design is an overlapping scalloped pattern couched in flat metallic plate in pale jewel gold and copper tones. Each scale is outlined with a continuous run of small flat sequins, and the lower border finishes in a scalloped sequin edge.
This is a genuinely vintage piece of textile art from a famous Indian couturier, at least 30 years old and in good/fair condition - some of the goldwork could be easily repaired with a few hand stitches. Measuring at ~9cm wide, it is ideal for finishing the hem of a lehenga or a gown, or even a border at the bottom of a kurta for a menswear look. Its also a marvelous piece of couture embroidery to be used for evening wear styles; as a statement waistband for eveningwear dress in our matching Silk Dupion - Wine, or for bodice panels or cuffs.
We strongly recommend consulting with a specialist dry cleaner if attempting to clean this material.
